Stand Your Ground
by Kirstie Richardson

February 2010:
Edmonton County Upper School, Enfield
March 2010:
Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler's Wells

Dance Art Foundation has worked with young people in Enfield to create Flavour, an integrated dance group comprising four schools. Flavour met for the first time in January 2010 and over three weekends worked together to create Stand Your Ground. This new dance piece explores how at times it is hard to stand up for what you believe and stay grounded, how to be an individual within a group standing side by side. Flavour has been led by dance artist Kirstie Richardson, who choreographed Stand Your Ground.

Dance Art Foundation, in partnership with London Borough of Enfield, Arts & Events and Enfield’s Joint Service for Disabled Children and Sports Unlimited, are very pleased to be working with Sadler’s Wells and Youth Dance England on this project, part of the Jam Free youth dance initiative. Jam Free sees five of London’s leading dance organisations create new youth performance projects in five London boroughs. Following performances by each group in their local area, alongside some of London’s best youth dance and a specially commissioned performance by Blueprint Bursary Winner, James Wilton for a company of professional dancers, all groups come together for a celebratory performance at the Lilian Baylis Studios, Sadler’s Wells.
