You Can't Step in the Same River Twice
by Kirstie Richardson

March 2010

You Can’t Step in the Same River Twice is a dance performance by pupils from Grove Park Special School, choreographed by Kirstie Richardson with live music by m
usician and composer Tim Sanders. The first performance of You Can’t Step in the Same River Twice at Aspire in North London is accompanied by a screening of Changing Places, Changing Me, a documentary of the project by filmmaker Sarah Miles.

You Can’t Step in the Same River Twice explores journeys within a changing world. It looks at ways in which change impacts on our daily life and asks the question 'how do I feel about this?'

Students and teachers at Grove Park Special School have worked with Dance Art Foundation as part of a three year programme as a Creative Partnership’s Change School. This dance project creatively explores young people's experience of change at a time when the school is moving into a new building and merging with a neighbouring school.
