Joe Moran of Dance Art Foundation has won himself a reputation for high quality work in the field of Dance and Health, which he embarked upon nearly ten years ago. He always delivers what he promises, as other funders who have supported him a second and third time know. There are not so many people who understand how to use an artistic approach for avowedly therapeutic ends, to such a consistent standard - Dr Tony Burch, London GP
The workshop was led brilliantly... one child’s parents were particularly happy as they had been trying
to encourage physical activity and this workshop had their son doing that without really thinking about it - Richard House Hospice
The sessions developed the children with short attention spans and kept them engaged for an extended period of time. It was so evident it was a positive experience – pleasure, happy gestures and vocalisation... Looking forward to sharing this work through staff and volunteer training and enabling more children to participate over the coming months - Acorns Hospices
Successes so far
Evaluation undertaken by Jo Buffery, Senior Arts Consultant, has found that Dance Art Foundation’s children’s projects are efficient and effective in meeting physical, emotional, psychological, therapeutic and palliative objectives: ‘In both quantitative and qualitative terms, this project met all its stated aims. Benefits for children include the reduction of physical tension and lessening or distraction from pain, a marked enhancement of children's attention span, the opportunity for a sense of achievement, the development of relationships and self expression, and the experience of creative environments that are therapeutic: welcoming, involving, exciting and out of the ordinary’.
Thank you for providing this service to our Hospice. Your input helps to make a considerable difference to our children and families, enhancing the quality of their experience. They benefitted greatly in numerous ways. Activities such as these don't really occur for them outside the Hospice environment - Little Havens Children’s Hospice |
