Dance Art Foundation is delighted to announce that Artistic Director Joe Moran has been selected to join a group of 20 experienced dancers from across the world to work with Deborah Hay this autumn as part of her Solo Performance Commissioning Project. During this unique initiative, an international group of dancers learn the same solo dance choreographed by Deborah Hay. Each dancer is personally coached by Hay in the performance of the dance, with the whole group present, and the solo is ultimately adapted by each performer through a period of practice that extends into the months following the project. At the heart of the Solo Performance Commissioning Project is a commitment to involve communities in the process of art creation and to encourage the support of artists and their growth. The commissioning fee for each dancer’s participation is therefore sought from their community and must not come from the artist’s private resources. Support is welcomed from friends, relatives and colleagues, businesses, organisations and funders. All patrons receive acknowledgement every time the solo is performed by any of the participating artists and each artist is encouraged to bring the solo back to their individual community. Dance Art Foundation is fundraising for the £980 commission fee to enable Joe's participation and we are delighted to have secured £600 to date. This includes a generous £500 award from the Rebecca Skelton Fund. To reach its fundraising target, the charity is now appealing to the generosity of individual supporters to raise the final £380 by the end of this month. Donations of £20, £50 or any other amount that patrons may wish to give are invited. Contributions of all sizes really will make a difference and any contribution that individuals may be in a position to make will be an invaluable support and greatly appreciated.
