Dance Art Foundation is an independent national charity inspiring recognition of the cultural significance of dance, and advancing public and individual engagement, understanding and appreciation of dance as a contemporary art form.
Vision
Dance Art Foundation celebrates and focuses attention on the artistic excellence, diverse practices and entrepreneurial spirit of independent dance artists. It works with a dynamic network of leading artists to create adventurous dance that questions the limits and definitions of the art form, and its role in wider cultural life. It aspires to a dance ecology where artists, art form, audiences and communities engage in critical reflection, fearless inquiry and informed exchange.
Mission
Led by Artistic Director Joe Moran, Dance Art Foundation achieves its vision through self-initiated programmes, strategic partnerships and collaboration, and cross-sector consultancy. It works with exceptional and visionary artists and thinkers whose expertise draws on progressive international dance practice, knowledge and thought. Many of its programmes are devised to be outward facing and in dialogue with other disciplines, demonstrating how dance influences and contributes to public life. In the area of social engagement, Dance Art Foundation is a recognised leader in dance-in-health in the UK.
